v7 wrx wagon auto not boosting

the turbo is not boosting well. checked no engine error code. engine runs fine all the way to 120km (didn't push further as don't want to lose my lience. ) basically it is just like a 2L N/A. I know there are many possibilities but any simple check I can do myself before send it to specicalist?

Remove the wastegate hose from the wg nipple and take it for a boost

Basically free boosting

See if boosts

Just be careful to let off the gas once u get to say 14psi

This test will only prove if ur turbo is intact boosting and basically either lay the blame on the turbo unit or some other thing as boost controller and wg etc

Also make sure the wg actuate rod is firmly attached to the wg tab on the turbo

I know from experience that this was the case for one of my mates car where it didn't boost and we found that the rod was not attached to the wg tab

Was the easiest fix ever lol

Anyway try that and see how it goes

Gave the car to my mate for 2 days who know nothing about subare. Any chance he fuel in 91 and caused this?

not too sure will cause no boost

but could be low boost by ecu

anyway do the turbo freeboost test and see if at least turbo is fine anyway

a friends v7 wagon was doing this - talk to ichi ban as he can tell you why most likely, i asked him about my freinds one a while back.

try a ecu reset bro, unplug the battery, pump the breaks for about 10 seconds, then plug the negative terminal back on.. Take the car for a *brisk* drive and see if you notice a difference... Your mate might have had a bit too much fun in your car and hit a cel in return can lower your iam (effects your timing) and will lower bost & over all timing for safety precautions.

If he's been running 91 in it fill it with at least haf a tank of 98 and do the battery reset, then see if there is a difference,

If the reset doesn't fix it, then we can diagnose further

its more of mechanical issue then electrocal... your turbo might be seized, these turbo are common and easy to get from trademe, most likely be a TD04

thanks everyone for the advice. not a mechincal mind so I think I am going to have my 1st visit in Hihbrook automative as it is recommand by everyone.
