Cat removal

Is it legal to remove your cats? Like to just cut them out and put pipe in their place?

yep all legal ( as far as im aware, done many times ) , just check with o2 sensor pos's.. can have an effect if not replaced,,

My cats will be about shagged by now so no point keeping them on

My exhaust is aftermarket but they have cut it up for some stupid reason to put the cats back into it.

the cat shud be bolted on with flanges so just undo those and get rid of all the crap inside

Is it Twin Turbo? I did hear removing cats made the turbo's overspool.. Don't quote me on that.

Nah sounds just a byproduct of the ability to get in my driveway and over a speed bump.

In that case, take it to an exhaust shop and ask how much to get it removed.

However, with the non-turbo's, I read the cats give them a nicer sound and not to rapsy and Honda..

Also, with removing it, your exhaust will become louder and you may fail a warrant for the noise.

I will post before and after pictures for anyone else who plans on doing it and go to dads work and cut them out

ive been told the complete opposite by a few exhaust specialists. they told me no warrent place can give you any shit for the vehicle volume. the only people that can tel you off are the cops when they green sticker you for not having a LVV cert. just what ive been told numerous times thats all. apparently it was in the nzpc magazine too.

Um no, They can most certainly fail you for a noisy exhaust, they dont even have to test it, if they think it is to loud then they can and will fail you.

It is in the VIRM to take car to 3000 rpm and check exhaust for excessive noise and smoke
