Hi guys!

I have tried googling this but I haven't been able to figure it out. Will this gearbox fit my 1989 Mistubishi Lancer GLX? What do I need to check to see if it will, etc?

I suggest you hit a Mitzi forum and ask where the Gbox code is located on the Mitzi boxes (someone here may know) then go looking for it on yours and the process becomes much easier once you have the code.

How do I look at my gearbox? Like will it be by the gearstick?

code will be stamped on it : you may need to get dirty(er) and get on your back to see it, use a torch

Shayla you shoudl be able to see the Gearbox with the bonnet open as it is a an east west design FWD ssooooo ( I have not looked at many mitsi's) the engine should be more to the drivers side and the gearbox to the passengers side.

CLEAN all the oil of it first then it should be clear

I think... And don't quote me on this but last time I worked on a FWD Mitsi the Gbox code was underneath. Pretty sure it was stamped on the bottom to the left hand side of the box.

Was 5 or 6 years ago though so I may be mixing cars up.

If you get real stuck I'm up on the 14th I think it is. Gotta work on Cams car by the sounds of it so could probably look at yours to for 5 mins.

Even if I get a gearbox I don't know htf to put one in. Would I just ring a mechanic and say hurro I need a gearbox/install for an 89 Lancer, gb code is HY0969?

Chassis code will probably be on the metal tag in the top middle of your picture.

Mechanic shouldn't charge much to source and fit on your lil econo box.

Try the guy on the corner of Heaphy Tce and Claudelands road I think it is. He did a pretty good deal for me. But ask for a quote and tell him if its gonna be a dollar more to ring you and confirm.
