Gearbox shut down

paroxysm

if something broke - the oil would be mettalic

i expect a gearbox mechanic would be able the read the metal quite accurately however most of these old boxes will introduce metal into the oil from normal wear, not telling us laymen much.

i doubt just one peice will brake off and hide in the gearbox - it will more than likely have multiple broken bits which you will find in the oil - if theres one bit "hiding" in the box

you've never found individual teeth / loose shift inserts / bits of selector rod or fork hiding in the case journals?

it wouldnt take long for it to find its way into the gears and completely destroy it

catastrophic failure is moot point as he would have heard the (horrible) noise of gearbox death at idle or while being pushed

tl;dr my point was discussing it will not fix the box.

i just replaced a couple of synchro springs in a gsr box and found a spare synchro key stone thing. it was a rebuilt box sometime ago so im guessing it was just tucked in the corner somewhere. definitely possible somethings kickin round in there.

Call Strong For Subaru.... That's I believe more expensive than their full price and you get a warranty at that price too.

Yes, TY752VBCAA is suitable for any car with a 4.444 rear diff (such as a GC8 STi)

Got a call back from strong for subaru. They must of seen my post on here, gave me a discount for being on clubsub. Great price plus 6 month warrenty. I love that shit, I know where ill be going next time I need parts.

I will let everyone know how install goes and fingers crossed dosn't lock out again :P

if selector linkage hasnt fallen off then its a simple fault, and fairly easy to fix.

The mainshaft nut has come undone - which moves all the synco hubs out of alignment

Drain gearbox oil

remove transfer case - remove 5th gear fork retaining pin - select 3rd gear then manually select 5th

this will lockl the gearbox solid so you can do the nut up - once its doen up dont forget to stake it in place

deselect 5th - deselect 3rd - refit 5th retaining pin - reassemble gearbox

(check for gear selection once your have the transfer case fitted - to make sure main selctor rod is in the neutral gate)

fill oil - WIN

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
