Mechanic stole money from car - what to do now...

Hi,

Took my car into the mechanic to get some work done (hadnt been to this shop before) picked up car the next day to find $70 missing from the glove box (yes before you start about I shouldnt have left money in there I know, but it doesnt excuse it going missing)

I told the mechanic and he said the owner would call me back (sure enough it didnt happen)

Question is what to do now?

go to the police as it if theft

Maybe talk to owner/manager as well, he should be interested to know his staff are stealing from his customers.

yea, speak straight with the manager/owner and if u get no where.. just state you will take the matter up with the police

This. Had the same thing happen with a radar. The owner said na wont be any of my guys. So he spoke to them again and the next day the radar was sitting on his desk. Needless to say the guy got fired. I never got the power cable or window bracket back though. I just charged the company for the privilage of getting a new one.

yeah definately going to the cops if the manager doesnt come to the party.

when I sold the guys the money had gone from my car they told me "if you had told me it was there I could have looked after it but its hard to prove it was there now..." FN BS~!

Your retort WILL BE something like this - I shouldnt have to tell you theres money in the car. If theres money in the car it should remain in my car. If i tell you its been taken from the car, its been taken. Now, lets see what the cops say about your comment Mr Manager.

Hard to prove it = guilty, refering to money that was there

I'm no lawyer, but thats how I see it
