Blitzens rocker cover gaskets getting done next week,

Is there anything i should get them to look at while they're doing them? I don't know exactly how big a job it is but i figure that since our mechanical warranty runs out in April that i might as well get them to see if there's anything that needs fixed before then.

id mainly ask them to make sure they do it with genuine gaskets

And if your covered just get a full check over while your there, may as well, if its enough to warrant getting it done under warranty before it runs out then worth it IMO

I don't think its a massive job, Ichi did both of mine earlier last year & was a good price, he did it after work so I left the car at his place overnight, so as long as your mechanic knows his way around a subbie you should be fine

+1 for genuine gaskets, and make sure the half moon bungs that press into the head are replaced

The car is going in to the local subaru dealers, southern Motorcourt so I'm sure they'll use genuine parts and do it properly. Gonna ask them to have a good look around while they're doing the job. In the time we've had the car, almost 3 years, the insurance has saved us a good 5grand so well worth the initial $1000 purchase price.

$150 excess on the policy which is good. As for the quote i think they said about $700/800? I'll call them tomorrow and get an exact figure but doesn't really matter so long as my excess is all i get charged. confirmed with them all i will pay is $150 so all good. definitely gonna get rid of the blitzen when the warranty runs out ay, feels like a ticking nuclear bomb that makes my bank balance very very nervous

Haha i know right! Best $1000 we ever spent was that warranty. used it a few times, new O2 sensor, new knock sensor, radiator repair and new top tank, and the best one was the gearbox repair that totalled almost $4000 alone! Gotta love insurance!
