Carbon Canister Question

Recommended Posts

i know is not needed was wondering how i can eliminate it completely from under the manifold. using a v3/4 inlet manifold i was thinking of leaving the purge control solenoid in the green/black plug under the iacv one of the hoses goes to a vaccum nipple and the other to the pipes running under manifold to carbon canister i was wondering since theirs a pipe coming from up near the fuelfilter which usually plugs into the other end of the carbon canister could i run that hose to the purge control solenoid. getting rid of the alloy pipes going to the carbon canister.

or can i block off the other nipple on the purge control solenoid and block off the hose up near the fuelfilter which goes on the other end of canister.

let the tank line breathe somewhere down the firewall. unplug the solenoid and throw it. strip all the rest of it out and plug the vacuum up off the manifold.

so i can strip the wires in the manifold for the plug? wont it throw a cell?

thats what I was thinking, when I removed mine I left the solenoid plugged in but not plumbed up to anything so the ECU still thinks its working.

did u run a scan tool on it ? if it came up with a code for carbon canister - the only way the ecu would know if theres a problem with the carbon canister is if the purge solenoid is un plugged or faulty - but it shouldnt stop it revving

oh make sure u let the gas tank breather hose breathe - dont block it - its sweet to just remove the hose and let it breathe - allways done it like that with no issues what so ever

I used the one way valve off the carbon canister (little grey thing inline) on the end of the breather line. fuel vapour is way too flammable to leave the hose open.

breather line? is that the hose coming from the chassis? so i should put that grey valve on the end and leave it unblocked

if you put the one way valve in all you are doing is blocking it up or leaving it open anyway. if you poke it right down the firewall theres nothing to ignite it anyway. your fuel cap should breathe out the cap anyway but when ever i gas up my tank is still pressurized and my breathers open...up to you really its been done either way by people on here and havent heard of cars blown up iraqi styles yet.

hm - if you have sparks in yo engine bay - i think somethings up !!!

ive allways just removed the rubber hose and left the hose open to vent for many many years - like i said never had an issue - have weldid in engine bays before - no issues

i saw a mates mitsi a few years ago- was a vr4 legnum - in limp mode it couldnt rev over 3k - check engine light was on

what ever comes up on the scan tool - fix that - if it says carbon canister - look at the vac lines and see if theres a solenoid on the vac lines - check its plugged in and check wiring is all i can think of

anything gdi soots up really bad maybe its clogged vac solenoid. theyre pretty electronic them mitzis. if its anything like the chariot/grandisd fly by wire. whatever it is whether its big or not its pulled limp mode which is why its only doing 4k. what code did it throw? go buy some throttle body cleaner and empty a can into it.

Just had a look and that my Carbon Canister has been removed, one side has been blocked up and the other hose with the big grey thing is just left there.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
