I dont know what section this should be under as there could be many.

I am In the process of building a lightweight in car computer. Primarly it will be designed to handle on screen gauges will upload pics in a day or so. Figured that i have the time and i am bored may as well do it :-)

very similar principal to that just when yur out on a track with no back seats no free hands something on the dash seems appropriate.

are you thinking of mounting the screen into the dash or?

what do u want to show on the screen ? cos realistically when racing - only gauges u wanna see would be water temp - boost - oil pressure and temp - air fuel ratio and EGT - which the obd will only be able to supply water temp

edit * unless its ver 7+ obd2 - it can feed you water temp - boost and air fuel ratio

I agree with you on oil pressure. i have a normal gauge for that. However my Ver 5 on obd2 has water boost a/f and heaps of other shit. the monitor i have is flip up so will try and mount into that centre bit :-)

oh yes forgot about ver 5 being obd2

BUT - ver 7+ has a wideband air fuel sensor - and pretty sure ver 5 doesnt? maybe wrong tho but im pretty sure it only has a narrow band o2 sensor - which is no good for air fuel ratio display

joshhorn16, what are you using to display your gauges in a v5 via obd2?? i'm hunting around for a program and for the life of me, i can't find one....

would be very basic as all its reading is values from the obd and putting into gauges or graphs

must be able to be done even nissans with obd1 can do it via consult port - even tells IDC

i use rom raider logger. it supports most subarus. tricky B*tch to set up but once you have done it 2 or 3 times it easy

i have that exact same cable, running rom raider, what settings / drivers are you using?

First off have you installed the drivers the came with it ?

was using the ftdi drivers from the ftdi website.

Yup so because it is emulating the comport, Are you able to locate wich comport it is emulating

Yea didn't think so - just that he said it can display air fuel ratio lol - narrow band readings are useless -

its exactly what obd1 nissans can tell you aswell - except cant tell u boost as they dont run a map
