colour codes...

Hi all,

(possibly not a technical question - mods feel free to move)

just had a v5 bumper painted/fitted to my dark blue v3 wrx wagon...

when we gave the painter/panelbeater the color code, it came back in the system as non existent - my factory tag was printed with the color as 62D but its actually 52D.

anyone else out there with a dark blue v3 with the same code? wondering if mines a one off mistake or if all the ones this color are wrong?

when seeing your car in the flesh becca, that colour looked identical to my old BG legacy.. which was 52D...

I guess the question is does anyone have a 62D?

62D = Dark Blue Pearl

52D = Dark Blue Mica 2 AND Dark Blue Pearl

This is like my colour code 406, the paint shop I went to here in ChCh said they had to whip up their own mix.

yea just wondering if mine is the only one that seems to be printed wrong, seems a bit weird... my painter has painted some of the top show cars in nz and been in the industry 15 years, mines the first factory colored car hes come across in all that time with the wrong code.

we searched the system he uses for all subaru colours, and 62D didnt even show up, thanks for the info will pass it on TIMMAH:)

I'm no paint expert, but maybe Subaru made a colour code cock up? The link suggests the 62D was a code from 1994, as well as the 52D, how ever it says in the year 2000, 52D was a Dark Blue Pearl, suggesting the same as 62D.

So subaru may have ditched 62D for 52D as they are the same ??? Google isn't very helpful, but 52D has a lot more relevant results than 62D.

thanks for all the info, that makes alot more sense now... so the code isnt correct now but in 1994/6 it may have been

fwiw.. my BG was a 97 and was 52D...

FWIW: This vehicle is in Subaru's system as being 52D so I'm not sure how 62D ended up on your tag plate.

And 406 is the silver used on all Imprezas from GC/GFxA through to GC/GFxE

Neither am i, but it defnitly says 62D - heres the plate....

Looks like somebody made a booboo when manufacturing that plate.
