if you have a phase1 engine you'd be better doing what i did, steel gears with new centers made, cost me bout $500 to make.

As pretty much you won't get off the shelf for phase 1 engines unless you're prepared to pay $1300+

Phase 2 engines however are a different story, you could get the BC (Brian Crower) for bout $700? but you'll also have to mod the cam and crank position sensors iirc.

here's a pic of mines

BC adjustable cam gears deliver the easiest way to dial in more horsepower and/or torque without getting underneath the valve cover, disassembling the engine or dealing with onboard electronics. BC gears are CNC machined from aerospace grade, 6061-T6 billet aluminum for ultimate tensile strength. Easy to read, laser etched face features micrometer style markings for precise adjustment (up to 10 degrees in each direction) and quick tunability. Each hub is held down by six ARP made, Grade-8 hex bolts for maximum clamping ability. Hard anodized finish prevents premature surface wear

like i said, if you have phase2 engine then ya go for BC, i would. BUT BC don't work with Phase 1 engines

i spent months looking for adj gears, even called BC in the states to no avail for phase 1.

the ones i got made will do me just fine, 10 degrees each way CNC machined blah blah, hex bolts, etc...

Again, Phase 2, Go for BC

Phase 1, you'll need $1300+ for a good branded ones, unless you have a way to make Phase 2 gears to work for a Phase 1 heads

If you need further than 10 degrees, I think moving one tooth is approx. 7 degrees so can infinitely adjust in reality.

Most cap screws in NZ are 12.9 grade which is equivalent to imperial grade-8 bolts aswell.

The ones I have look similar to yours B4 2000. I think that most decent machine shops could figure out how to build these. Using the steel cam gears, this can be done with a universal centre (i.e. doesn't need to be different between the left and right heads) and made to centre on the camshaft the same way as they do from factory.

Hi

I have the BC on mine sort of a version 6 engine and you do have to go from the 6 tooth crank trigger to a later model 25 tooth trigger and you have to be running an aftermarket ecu to tell the car that you effectivley have a version 7+ set up. Link g3 and obviously g4 have this function don't know about other models. The photo shows the 6 tooth crank trigger but has been changed to 25 tooth now.

Exact cost is $749NZ delivered if you do get them I reccomend link below, got them in 3 days and they are in stock. BC don't have any instock until end of the month at the earliest.

What is the difference between phase 1 and phase 2 engines, I have a closed deck block and v4 sti heads with modified camshafts. But need cam gears to suit now, are the cam gears your buying going to suit my motor? Thanks Des.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
