HOW TO TAKE OFF PLASTIC SURROUND?? INSTALLING NEW CLIMATE CONTROLLER IN BH5!

Getting really sick of having a buggered climate controller so bought a new one and got the old one removed when my stereo was installed.

Problems:

1. I now have an ugly gaping hole where my climate controller used to be.

2. I dont know how to take the plastic surround off to re-install the climate controller. Have heard it can be hard and I am prone to breaking things!!

Help will be appreciated

Not my car but close enough. The plastic piece that contains the cup holder next to the climate controller is the piece im stuck on.

Have heard there are some hidden screws.

search for legacy radio install there are pictures in one of them that show all the locations of the screws

However, if it hasn't ever been taken off before, then there might be screws holding in the metal tray that the ashtray slides into. There will be 2 that point up on an angle at the front (get a stubby philips), and one at the rear (get a long philips)

Get all them and you should be right.

Easy.

1. take off gear knob.

2. take gear knob plastic surround thing. You see it has a join either side of the centre console just where the ash tray is. it has friction clips.

3. take ash tray out.

4. unscrew two screws holding the key tray in (the black thing below the ash tray)

5. unscrew two small screws at top of ashtray, they are the underside of the pocket spacer gap thing you have below your head unit. youll need a stubby phillips and a good finger to feel for them.

6. get a flat head screw driver - pull the centre surround out carefully. it has friction clips in four places. The cup holder on the top left will come out with it as one piece. use the flat head if your struggling but be very careful.

7. youll see the screws for the conditioning unit. undo, pull it out carefully. therell be a white fluted hose in behind it, it may have a spring clip on it.

8. have a beer.

9. smile.

10. rub crutch and burp.

The one at rear doesnt need to be removed just leave that one in so the tray stays in place u can jus push down very slightly and surround will go over it

MUST DO THIS BIT CORRECTLY.

10. SHOULD BE :- Belch, scratch nuts, beer fart. Then savor your manly actions and work then laugh at how bad it now smells!
