Oil catch can on gc8? engine pissing out oil!!

so i had a bit of an incident on the track today. after a few hard laps. i came into the pits and opened my bonnet to discover oil all over the battery, fuse box, bov, right side of bonnet, right side of radiator, brake master cylinder and a few other lines. a few guys then came over and was trying to find out find out what happened. in the end, one of the guys who turns out to be a bit of a subaru wizard thinks i might have been "cornering so hard" that some of the engine oil managed to make it's way from one of the breather lines on the sides and into the intake system, it then ended up going through the intercooler and was spraying out of the bov!! :o . Didn know such a thing could even happen. just 1 thing. Has this happened to anyone before!? i was told i should consider getting a oil catch can and this is suppose to stop this from happening? i was shitting myself for a bit as i didn't know wtf happened! lol

yes thats exactly what happens, and yes you should run one - but beware - the catch can fills up and they still spray everywhere ;D

I would give your intake and TMIC / FMIC a good clean out to rid of the oil. It drops the octane rating badly and when raping your car will do lots of damage

thats EXACTLY what i was told lol. that is rather disappointing especially from a Subaru. atlease it was nothing major. i usually shit myself in situations like that as im not really mechanically minded! lucky it turns out it was a design flaw?

its a 'feature' of a horizontally apposed engine. with lateral G forces as we have heads in the same plain (almost) as the bottom of the motor its very easy to trap the oil out in the heads, and it comes out the breathers if you keep the lateral force up.

Most other engines the head is that the top so no issue. If you can design a boxer motor that doesnt shit it self on a wet sump go right ahead :P

water... seriously...???? since when to do water and oil mix.

Get yourself something like petrol and put some in your intercooler and shake it all about and drain.

A can is a can is a can. the size is important and the teeing of the lines to it. about 2L minimum id suggest.

Which track were you at?

re can sizes etc - check your motorsport manual as there is a perscribed size you are allowed to run depending on engine size.

Fully cannot remember (got mine ages ago) but i think minimum is 1l for a 2 litre motor (check manual). Baffles in the can is also a good thing. I got mine from sinco customs - good price high quality.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
