Help with new motor build?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

I have a V1 WRX.

So far it has an Sti Close Ratio gearbox in it, and a few bolt ons.

I recently wrecked V3 STI, and pulled the motor from that.

The plan was to rebuild the STi motor with aftermarket pistons and rings etc.

My friend has just offered me a 2.5 block....

Anyway, what would be a good way to go?

So far I have at my disposal:

V1 WRX motor

V3 STi motor

V7 WRX heads

TD05 Turbo

TD05-25G turbo

565cc injectors

Z32 AFM

Completely remappable 4plug ECU

I would like to keep it 4 plug - I guess that means I should use V1 sensors / loom etc

I\'d like to build something reliable, fun, and able to pull a mean heli

Eventually the car will get a 6 speed box

I have a reasonable budget....

Any suggestions?

Remember Your now married to your car, like married with children, \'\'you can\'t have 1 without the other\'\'

Add 12mm oil pump, i beams, cosworth headgasket and bearings, apr headstuds..........

You can\'t ring a 2.5 out to 8000rpm constantly.. shorter stroke = higher rpm

if its like the 2.1 stroker which is 2l deck and 2.5 crank, they utilize a factory rod for the block type and use a slight shorter piston but some bore.

(actually) even with in the 2.1 stroker build, you can use a factory rod and shorter deck height piston, or a long rod variant. - it just pays to do your research.

(fwiw a factory 2.0t and ej257 rod are identical ;) )

the 2.34 you can actually do as a stroker or a destroker. the former uses a 2.2 block to start with and is stoked - and is what Rex leggy has, or you can destroke a 2.5 block using a 2l crank..

they have their respective different power characteristics so do some reading.

i still have the 2.5 crank so is stroker not de stroker as funky said above .

as for rpm limit mines set to 8000 rpm at the moment the next block will be going higher (about 9000)

as for cams im working on uploading a vid of mine so youll be able to hear it with 274/272\'s :)

OK, so the 2.34 sounds sexy as hell.

I already have a 2.5 block, so the destroker seems to be the way to go.

I guess I need:

my 2.5 block

my 2.0 crank

some forged pistons

some forged rods

oil pump

gasket set

mls head gaskets

cam belt / tensioner

ARP studs / bolts

Clutch

Are my 565cc injectors and TD05-25G big enough?

Any other tips?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
