5 speed VSS and selector on 6 speed box

Looking to do a 6 speed conversion into my V3 RA and have a few questions about the swap.

Can you use a 5 speed speed sensor (i.e. VSS) on a 6 speed gbox? And can you use the selector from a 5 speed on a 6 speed? Or are they gbox specific? If so, where can one find a 6 speed VSS and selector?

Any help much appreciated!

yup the 5 speed sensor works fine. in fact is required for your manual cable input.

history i think told me to use the 6mt fork to match the flywheel/clutch you are using.

You can dummy it up on the box anyway without installing it, one wont sit at the ring angle. all 5mt forks are the same, and all 6 speed forks are different to 5mt ones but the same across all 6mt boxes.

Awesome, thanks for the input. Definitely clears up the VSS issue. Would most likely be using current 5mt clutch (newish 6 puk)/flywheel - so 5 speed clutch fork with those?

As for the selector itself (i.e. stick assembly) - any idea whether they\'re interchangeable?

no definitely need 6mt shifter + linkage. - can buy through pbms.. gl finding a factory one.

hmm no im still thinking 6mt fork (obvious contridicction)..lol.

as it turns out my 6mt one is out atm.. so for a small donation i could LOAN mine to you to quickly check alignment of it.

Very kind offer, but this is all pre-emptive haha - still tossing up whether or not to buy 6 speed! Currently running a V5 Type R box with DCCD, freshly rebuilt too, so hard decision here.

yer for sure. the replacement fork will be REALLY hard to find, replacement shifters through PBMS are quite $$ (i have one), and you already have close ratio box?

lot of $$$ for swapski.. for what benefit?

Exactly the way I was swinging - thanks for the input! Seems a lot of hassle and dollars for little benefit.

clutch forks arnt to bad . bout $100 new

subaru us was were the last one we got came from i believe. they have sharp prices on twin scroll sump setups also ;D
