these types of clutches arnt designed for street use. theyre more like a switch and are on or off. i would have used a standard sti spec clutch for street car. but they do get better with a bit of use...

Yip, you fitted the wrong clutch for your application !

Even real tough street cars dont need a PUK style clutch

(even though you have the sprung type, you may still blow your gearbox)

Change it back to std or upgrade STi which has a slighty bigger plate

i run a ceramic one, 6 puck unsprung, with a big pressure plate. its the same either on or off, need to lift tthe revs a bit when engaging to reverse and to pull away or its gonna bite and stall. not really suited for a daily driven street car or for standard gearboxes, i would suggest chaging it or talk to a clutch specialist , perhaps they could lighten the pressure plate tension to help, try autoclutch.

taking any of the clamping force out of the pressure plate aint a good idea.. the clutch plate WILL wear a groove into the flywheel and root it. i have seen it on rotaries mainly as a s1-3 rx7 clutch plate is the same as a bg323 gtx plate they are very cheep for brass button plates and they just use factory pressure plate...goodbye $500 billet flywheel

Yeah lightening pressure = would induce slip and would require a new pressure plate ( or rebuild of current one )

And it's not the clamping force that is the issue it's the BITE of a PUK that is the issue here

As stated before Sti clutch fine and is good for 99% of all street performance cars

I know of 3 similar clutch types that have annihilated the gearboxes > 1 standard RS gearbox and 2 V3/4 STI gearboxes.

As already stated the take up and bite of these clutches requires a bit of skill to drive, but at the end of it when your up the car for the rent it won't take long to blow a gear.

clutches are ment to be the sacraficial sp? point of a drive train. instead of doing costly damage they design a clutch to fail first before your box does.

Even the Heavy duty version's on standard clutches are a bit of a gamble.

I bought my old RS R with an Exedy Heavy duty clutch installed and I'm sure it was responsible for the death of 5th gear.

To be honest most likely due to throttle off after overtaking and shock loading the gear.

yeah however in saying that its very different with a 2 wheel drive car as they will just try and spin a wheel

Something has to spin up or break.

(Another step in honesty/incrimination) > I used to VMAX the RSR south bound coming out of the Silverstream/Pinehaven merge at about 5.30am after dropping the wife off to work.

Saw 240kph on a couple of occassion's; Car was more than a little unhappy.

i guess it would depend on the current pressure rating of the plate, have also heard that you can get clutch plates with ceramic on one side and brass on the other to help with driveability, any one had one or got experience of these??

One of the guys I work with spec's something like that for the rally cars he builds. I doubt they're nice to drive round town with but they work really well in their intended purpose.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
