Rebuild cost for EJ20G

It\'s also unlikely that I\'ll need new rods, pistons only if the bore is excessively worn.

The $1500 price appears to be realistic for rings, bearings, gaskets and machining IF the bore isn\'t worn too much. So thank you all for your advice, but at least initially I have posted a WTB in the classifieds section for a used running EJ20G and I\'ll just put a new cam belt on it.

I don\'t wanna sound like a douche but honestly I wouldn\'t cut costs or tally it up under what you "hope" it will cost.

Call around mechanics and ask what they will say price wise.

Then make a well informed decision from there.

If I were you. Go order a short block from somewhere good, pull out and check your heads. Get them machined and get all new parts ie water pump gaskets belts bla bla.

Least you know it won\'t be parts that will fail if it blows. (Hint- it becomes the labour)

Mr hijacka.......2 hours to re guide and relap valves?...thats all 16?....NO way!.....Rush job that will be low on quality for sure!.....Certainly wont be done by a craftsman!....4 hours per head done correctly with care including pressure test.

Thats per head matey, lapping them by hand, you don\'t need to be a craftsman to do it.. I think you all chugging the chain here ::) . if you read back i was saying 5k in parts is bullocks and it is.. along with the op doesn\'t want a forged block so why are you all quoting him for one lol?

If you replace valve guides you should re machine seats prior to finish lapping......Well a craftsman would!

2 hours to fully reco an 8 valve 2 cylinder head is not long enough!......Just a rough rush job will be done.

Remember the heads are probably THEE most important "bit" when it comes to engine power/efficency

+$400 for new oil cooler modine

$205 if you score one of the old stock from armstrongs :)

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
