faulty oil pressure sensor / gauge

faulty oil pressure sensor / gauge in my oil pressure system?

Its a greddy unit, with a sensor, and a control unit and electronic gauge. the sensor is a 3 wire item.

What happens: when you start the car randomly every few starts the gauge reads totally nothing. just blank. Car does ALWAYS have pressure.

most of the time it reads fine and is accurate, 3-4bar warm idle and 7bar hot in the revs.

Its doing my head in how to test or work out why it sometimes wont read anything. help working out what / where to test would be most useful.

The control unit has its power wires shared with the oil temp gauge which works fine seemingly.

Oh and to add. If you turn the kill switch off and on again it comes back straight away. It only does it when firing the car and just reads 0. Never faults when its gng normal while the car is running

Is controller wired so that when you switch of kill switch it also turns off controller? Try hard wiring controller so it keeps memory.

It has 4 wires.

Ground

Constant power

And two wires for acc power

Is it one of the Defi Genome jobbies? I\'ve seen a couple of them with cracked solder joints where the plug connects to the board inside the controller.

Ha ha!!! Solved. After much dileberation and learning to drive a multimeter i trwced the issue to one of the sensor wires that plug into the controller. It had lost its clip in tab, the bits that stop pins coming out of their plugs. So fixed and re pinned and now it sits properly in the plug and i am getting consistent oil pressure.
