bc5 rs with tdo5 hesitation / coffing under boost

Hey guys I\'ve got a 89 rs legacy witch did have a vf8 on it but I got a tdo5 rebuilt

And put on and now once it gets to 4000rpm it losses heaps of power and gives a few

Miss under full throttle but once it gets to 5000rpm its fine, only does it when your foot

To the floor lol, could it be the knock sensor?

have you got a boost gauge ? and what have you dont for boost control ?

If you are using the standard boost control you will be basically free boosting and hitting boost cut.

You need a boost gauge and a stand alone controller to run a TD05

I put a gauge on it and it goes to 12psi at 4000rpm and then goes back

Down to 10psi after 4000rpm,

I\'m running the standard bosst controler still

Are you using the vf8 wastgate?

overboost then boost cut, the standard ECU control can\'t catch it quick enough IMHO...

I\'m pritty sure it\'s a tdo5 Watergate, it looks abit different to the vf8 one

So if I just get a boost tap and set it to like 12psi or somthing that will fix it??

If its the standard TD05 waste gate you will be over boosting hard out.

Yeah boost tap is okay. Yep set it to 12 and you should be okay.

But... If its only seeing 12psi and then dropping to 10, the wastegate itself is proving capable of handling things just fine? (point being its not overboosting according to the gauge)

Do these run an airflow cut or is it purely a psi based one?

I know my forester (v6) would airflow and boost cut, had it cut on me going down towards ruapehu 4 up and full of s**t at 12psi, boost cut is 14.5

It could very well be a MAF limit cut, the td05 can flow quite a bit of air....

I have a td05 on my rs and it runs mint so i dont see how it would b a boost cut but put a tap on it and try it on around 8-10 psi and then report back

Are all your coils in good condition?

I haven\'t inspected them but I\'ve put new plugs in, but it has the acassial miss at idle witch is a coil but

I\'m not to worried about it atm

I would look at coils as the spark is breaking down at max torque

Ahh so you have a coil issue that you know about..

Go fix that then come back.

Its been awhile but ive swapped coils around and changed the ignitor and no change, im thinking it could be the plugs, what plugs do you guys recommend/run?
