EJ20 variants

Have found some info but struggling to relate it to my own car.

When I bought the vehicle I was told it was "rebuilt 35,000km ago" which I call bullshit on due to visible block surfaces showing they haven\'t been machined since new

As far as I have gathered the ej20k has smooth rocker covers, and an ej20g has \'FOUR CAM 16 VALVE\' on the rocker covers.

My dilemma is that my rocker covers have the writing/lines on them, I stopped a local guy the other day with a stock v3 sti sedan and his rocker covers are smooth

I had a cdb ej20g (recently took a trip to scrapyard) in bits and the rocker covers like mine shared the writing. But the actual shape of the rocker covers was different between it and mine.

So my question is

How many variants were available in the pre 98 ej20\'s, is it unusual for mine to differ from another sti of the same version?

heaps bro : My gtb now has a CD EJ20g block running TT heads so no rocker cover identification will help you if you come across my wagon in 20 years time trying to decipher that

Yeah I reckon too that it should be an ej20k with smooth covers like this other v3 I know is original

Sounds like I should just not worry about it and if I build a motor for it at least then i\'ll know what\'s in it

Legacy experience. Bc/bf with hydrolic rocker arms had ribs above and below as well as 16valve etc.

Early bg with hydrolic buckets had ribs above spark plugs. 96 onward with solid shims had flat rocker covers. same with a 97 wrx

      Afternoon team,
      im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket. 
      Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.
