2002 wrx loud whistle help

Ok done anothe leak test today also checked for exhaust leaks found nothing what is weird though is I done a oil change because the previous ower used castrol magnatec 10w40 so ive put In castrol edge 5w30 and noticed the noise only happens at 13psi now rather than 9-10psi uhmm now I suspect the turbo bearings may be at fault here think going to bite the bullet and get a new turbo and upgrade the y pipe. Anyone have any suggestions for where to find a aftermarket y pipe to fit a 02 wrx??

while you are there, you may as well swap out the TMIC with an sti jobbie, and use the sti Y pipe, improvement over the stock item and 9 times out of 10 will cost less than just an aftermarket y pipe

Isnt the sti one considerably bigger so the shroud doesnt fit up proper which isnt a good thing. Jump on ebay and get a silicon y pipe or yip sti y pipe gives gains if the late non sti pipe is anything like the early y pipes.

Silly question but in regards to fitting a new y pipe do i need to get the car tuned? also im looking at replace the up pipe for a non cat version any suggestions there?

looking on ebay at up pipes and y pipes any thoughts? frikin cheap lol and they all look the same these are the cheapest makes me wonder what the quality is like.

Replacement up pipe should be stock diameter 1.75" iirc so look for something specific or just get someone to cut yours up and remake one using the flanges.

The y pipe kit looks sweet and wont need a retune.

I\'ve had similar to this, it was the BOV bolts mine was a little lose, I tighten it up and the whistle is gone. Hope this helps.

I got one of those Y-pipes, good price but you\'ll be waiting for about 3 weeks or so for it to get there.

have you checked exhaust gaskets. mine did the same and it was the uppipe gasket.

Take intercooler off and check that the metal y pipe underneath is attached to the intercooler tight. Might be one bolt loose that opens up once it hits a certain boost level.
