Cost vs benefits

A surge tank setup is a relatively cheap insurance (we\'re talking under $400ish for a simple setup) - same as a baffled sump is cheap insurance

Up to you if you want to chance it or not

(Also a buzzy external pump is total "because racecar" spec BTW)

I\'ve seen one done where it had a normal walbro (or whatever) *internal* pump mounted inside a seperate surge tank - quite clever I thought, very tidy way to do things and much less volume - factory pump fed surgey tank as per normal - in effect only difference in cost was just the cost of the tank and getting it mounted (which is eff all really)

is a fair point on the dry sump but its still relative to its own cost profile and driver risk

A surge tank in the boot would be a piss off in a daily that track every so often. Esp in a hatch. Not like a sub you can just unplug.

Doesn\'t have to go in the boot - you can mount it undercar as well

It\'s one of those things which can be either an annoyance or a 1-off bad luck thing which costs you a 2k motor

You play the odds I guess - could spend 10k making an indestructible fuel and oiling setup just for the driver to be the faulty component and put the lot into a wall instead

Nope the "natural customizer" did it with that perspex fish tank lol. But yea youre right. Still valid in a sedan though

Anyway a sedan isnt exactly sealed between the cabin and boot.

or drive on well worn linglong tires so u never have enough grip to do any damage and as such drive a lot slower all around lol
