BP/BL Muffler options

Am looking for a set of aftermarket mufflers for my BP5 GT wagon. I can\'t really find many options in NZ without going custom and was wondering what others have done to theirs.

At this stage I\'m waiting for a set of Ultrex mufflers from Aus to come back in stock, they\'re $310AU plus a bunch for shipping, the other bolt on options I see are TCP quad tips which go for $650AU plus shipping.

I do see STI genome mufflers pop up on trademe every now and then, but from the sounds of it they have quite a raspy hollow sound to them which I\'m not keen on.

Has anyone gone for custom mufflers locally? if so how much did they cost all up and did they bolt on at the Y pipe or welded in?

even on a BP/BL?

I\'ve not heard the sti\'s in person, so can only go from what I see on youtube, so was leaning towards other options.

I\'ve already got a subtech downpipe in as well as a resonator before the centre pipe, so at the moment it sounds a little bit louder than stock, but keen for just a wee bit more noise from the muffler.

I\'m in CHCH, if anyone has the time to let me be passenger round the block I\'d be keen :)

I do like the look of the genome\'s, and almost pulled the trigger on some before I got the downpipe, but none have popped up on trademe in the last few months.

My 2c is they look ridiculous on the legacy - it\'s an understated car and having two massive cannons slung under it just wrecks the back end of it unless you\'re going for the street racer look

The quad tips or something similar is more... appropriate I reckon

Agree, especially on a sedan... ;D

Found these:

anyone know whether they\'d fit a wagon? Would they poke out a bit more or need extending?

Most probably they\'ll be shorter, just like a BE muffler on a BH - sits under a car and looks funny/ugly

Well they look quite good on DacerX\'s sedan, they didn\'t poke out or look out of place. I have seen some with them on which did look ridiculous, maybe mismatching wagon mufflers on sedan? To each their own I guess,

Would be nice to get quad tips, but twice the price over other options is a bit steep when I haven\'t even accounted for shipping.

Na don\'t get put off by what others think they look like. I wasn\'t a fan of it myself personally till I put them on mine. Didn\'t take long for it to grow on me. IIRC last time I looked on japanparts.com the genomes and the quad tips were the same price, except genomes seem to be about 10x easier to find around here, whether on trademe or on jap import vehicles.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
