center diff for rally 83 subaru leone

Just want other opinions on my gearbox setup. I\'ve got an 83 Subaru Leone running an ej20t. I have built a gearbox from a leone ea82 and half ej20, so the gearbox mounts line up but the half leone has no centre diff, so car is full time 4WD, not active.

I think it will be good on gravel but not sure on seal or doing handbrake turns.

What do you think?

Locked will be good for racing. Just hand brake turns are impossible, but if you are committed you can usually chuck the car into the right corners.

Handbrake turns aren\'t impossible: you just stop; rather than spin, so you slow down really quick, then turn and hammer on outta there.

on a lighter note D1 style, reverse entry to handbrake turn would theoretically work.

Do you have a build thread? I really wanna see this haha.

maybe fit a rx11 gearbox centre diff ? these are lockable but not instant ( so could not lock and unlock while using the handbrake)

have you fitted a rear handbrake setup as well? ( hydraulic ?)

If using an early on demand leone selectable Fwd to 4wd it will be ok on gravel/grass/loose surfaces but no good on hard surfaces in 4wd without a centre diff, as transmission/drive line will start to bind up as soon as start turning a corner (as front / rear wheels locked together and when turning a corner the front wheels travel further than rear wheels). unless you have excessive amounts of hp plus strenthened drive line.

Thats why its difficult to select 2wd after being in 4wd and tuning a corner on a hard surface.

Handbrake turns aren\'t going to work unless you modify it to work on rear wheels and need unlocked centre diff so it doesn\'t brake front wheels as well.

Actually what "We Are Borg" suggested is the best answer if you can get one

coz RX11 box (Ea82) is full time (lockable centre diff) hi/lo range.
