can feel it through the floor on passengers side not as much on drivers side though, and cant feel through pedals , can feel it a little on steering wheel but not as strong as on the floor , top nuts for struts are tight bearings are fine ,

if it was the steering rack wouldn\'t it affect the handling abit more? i cant see it shifting at all from underneath and tie rods are good

Do you have a strut brace? have had it where the intercooler was hitting the strut brace at the weirdest of times and making what felt like suspension noise. Just something to check. The other thing it sounds like it could be to me is sway bar D bushes under the car, quiet common on falcons.

Knocking noises are a tricky one have seen many a mechanic get lost trying to find them had hundreds myself i couldn\'t find. Had one 3 specialist Jaguar techs couldn\'t find ended up being the battery sliding around knocking on its mounts, so it pays to check the little things as well.

nah no strut brace, d bushes look ok but am going to get aftermarket ones next couple of weeks and see if that makes any difference.

good idea , as ive spent many hours looking over and over things trying different ways of getting some sort of noise while underneath but getting no noise unless im driving , i could be overlooking something small that is in my face ;) and yes even more frustrating when my friend who is a mech cant find it.

cheers again for everyones input , didnt get time to look at it weekend just gone but plenty of time this weekend hopefully i come across something

It\'s wicked hard to guess what it is just by the description

Is it a clonk when you hit a bump, or is it just a constant clonkclonkclonk when moving which gets worse when turning

For what it\'s worth, my BH had one which "sounds" similar to what you are describing, it was the front left shock being knackered. Could feel it quite distinctly through the passengers\' feet but was a mission to try and diagnose with the car jacked up, wouldn\'t always do anything, and did seem to be more pronounced when hitting a bump when turning compared to straight line

ok ,old thread but i still have the same problem and is getting worse, took it to subaru and the mech that looked at it was convinced it was the steering rack. changed bushes and rack(had to use my old pinion gear tho) last week and the noise sounds worse, second hand rack so maybe it was stuffed aswell but didnt seem to have any play when i had it out, if anybody is close to hawkes bay and keen to help diagnose ill be more then happy to bring it to you. cheers again for everybodys input

What condition is your steering shaft universal/link near the brake booster? Steering shaft/column bearings?

Also you\'ve done one side tie rod end, for the sake of $25 I\'d do the other. Have you got new steering rack ends/inner tie rod ends?

steering shaft uni was pretty sweet , it feels like it comes from the floor but will look at column bearings on weekend, and yup going to do the other tie rod when i solve this , its still solid as so going leave it for the moment

This thread crossed my mind today while under my car. This photo shows where I think your "clunk" problem might be. Watching your video (my sound is crap but) it looks like the clunk is in relation to steering wheel/shaft rotation more than road wheel angle. Either one of these Universal Joints or the Bush between them is worn out, clunking every 180\'.

This pictured F/L Sway link is completely Dead too. The bottom end of the link is contacting the A-arm (no rubber, clunk). Every time you swing the steering left to right the sway bar slides&twists a bit and pulls on those links/bodyroll (wont do it while on jacks). Your Sway Bar/Chassis Mount Bushes are dead too, the Sway Bar sliding has opened them up. You can see gaps between your Mount Bushes and Sway Bar. :(

Edit:

"Knock knock"

"Who\'s there"?

"Nolathane" ;D

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
