Looking for good mods

JND

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone

I recently purchased a 1997 Subaru Legacy RS B-Spec

At the moment it has:

ZeroSports Super Direct Flow Kit

ZeroSports Sequential Controller

FUJITSUBO - Legalis Super R Exhaust

Intercooler water spray

Jamex springs

STI Clutch

Just wondering what some recommendations are for the next few mods.

I\'m looking for performance i.e handling, power. Rather than looks, although any info would be appreciated :)

Thanks

Try 1k and a weekend if you do it yourself

My last legacy would have made maybe 200kw on an optomistic dyno during a snowstorm, and I was running out of things to do to it keeping twins. Record iveseen ever was about 230kw with a 2.2 motor and piggyback ecu

Single swap with the usual bits will make 200 without breaking a sweat and have about 100hp more in the midrange where you actually use it

As for handling, whatever struts you want or can afford, big swaybars if you can find them, any underbody braces you find and an anti lift kit

Brakes the 4 pot sti ones are a bolt on swap

Lots of cheap but effective stuff you can do, depends on ultimate aims and budget obviously

Www.subaruspeed.co.nz will be of some use to you

oh ok. perhaps i will look into it thanks guys

also, ive looked around for things like brake rotors, calipers also shocks, sway bars etc..

unless im looking in the wrong places i can\'t seem to find anything to fit? but then i hear that a lot of subaru parts are interchangeable. what kind of parts would be interchangeable to my car?

Nearly everything, haha

Some parts bespoke for legacy (struts and swaybars?) but most other things interchange, they are quite lego-y like nissans... sort of

Subaruspeed is a good place to start, otherwise they are being wrecked constantly

TMIC on the TT of that era is the best you can get OEM even compared to a STI

wide band waste of time unless you go for a LINK ECU

The piping is the restriction. Free up the intake pipe and charge piping seems to work well. And the funny turboy BB thingy marky did.

High quality tyres, a fresh alignment and a big rear swaybar makes them turn a lot better. But remember you are still driving a heavy car with most of the mass over the front end. So if you want to go quickly, be ready to throw the car at corners, rather than drive them into corners. 4 pots will help with preventing fade, but won\'t improve the stopping distance, that\'s the difference tyres make.

Completely agree that a single turbo conversion makes for a faster car, but if you are ok behind the wheel you can certainly keep a TT humming along nicely at speed on the road.

One thing I can\'t see/may have missed - what do you want the car for? Is it just a more enjoyable daily, are you after an overtaking or traffic light weapon, are you into drag racing, or track? What do you want the car to do for you? That will kinda define what to do with it...

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
