Under hood insulation material

Hi all

So I had a radiator leak coolant through engine bay all fixed but the under hood insulation material is soaked in it and gets smelly under heat. It\'s also looking pretty ratty.

Is it purely a sound thing?

Is there any 3rd party alternatives? Or should I just find a scrap yard?

Or just remove?

I would just pull it off yeah, if anything under bonnet temps might come down

I just removed it, no problems with temps, a few years later eventually replaced with dynamat branded stuff who make an alternative along with a few other brands, cost like $150 but was only to keep noise down mainly but did keep hood cool,

How would you rate the change in noise levels? Mainly into the cabin while driving, is it that much of a change?

but that\'s at a guess, but I did also spray the entire chassis and wheel wells with septone branded sound deadner plus dynamat threw out cabin and firewall, so yeah, it makes a difference but it was expensive and would/should have invested in other ways,

Nice, I\'ve been contemplating pulling mine off. Hoping to lower temps/heat soak, plus it\'s looking rough.
