Selling car- dude wants reg and vin

Apparently it will keep the insurance happy or somesuch but personally I have never been asked for the vin by an insurance company

Insurance can get the VIN from the rego through MotorCheck.

Second that. I have insured cars by just giving the make and model, no VIN or rego numbers. They eventually get the rego number by themselves.

na id just let him have it, they/he could be checking that its not stolen or dogdy

all he needs is the rego and he can get everthing about your car chassis number etc,

insureance company may want to know rego so can provide a cover note if he does buy it

i can see why he'd want the rego i would use it to do checks as well, but i wouldnt hand over the vin, you cant get any info with that and no company would be asking for it.

thats just me, up to you tho.
