Turbo timer opinion

Recommended Posts

Hey guys.

So I've been looking at turbo timers and need some advice, I know what the general consensus is about them but I'm wondering if it's possible to use one for like 10-15mins at a time?

I carry my dog in my car every now and then and some occasions call for me to go to the shop or something on the way home and looking for some way to keep her cool.

Any options and/or advice is much appreciated :)

Get one of those window cage thinga . Noone gunna steal a car with a dog in it . Most will run for ten minutes .

Get 2 keys . Leave it running and lock the door . Put a chain through the wheel .

Buy a ute

Shave the dog .

You have a valid point . Turbo timers in general are a fail on all points .

Already tried the 2 keys trick but my car won't lock all 4 doors when you try lock it from outside.

And not really a big fan of the window cage things. Even with the windows down the car still gets hot. And the dog is pretty much shaved haha she has very light fur covering her.

Probably not the cheapest option but can't you get a courier add in for the avs alarms that lets the car stay running whilst locked with the keys removed. Turbo timer would definately be cheaper though

How much roughly are those courier add on things?

Possible I think, my turbo timer can go up to 9 mins and 50 secs. But if you left the car under sun light for 10 mins without running, I don't think the A/C can keep the interior cool in some really hot day.

Tbh, my advice would be leave your dog at home, it's not worth it. If you really want to bring the dog, you may want to invest some more gears like heat shield, cooling mat for dog, battery power fan, keep your window down + leave some note for other people while away, etc

Sometimes it's a case of coming home from the vet or the beach or something and getting a call saying we need something from the store. If I could take her in with me I would.

I managed to lock mine once while it was running (winter morning warm-up) - do not really want to do it again. I first thought "not a problem" and started pulling the door handle (pre-programmed code to open without a key) but apparently this feature wouldn't work when the engine is running. Luckily I had a spare key at home...

oh yeh? luckily i didn't keep trying it then or i would've been stuck outside with the dog inside haha. So a turbo timer will work, and are there ones that you don't have to have going every time you turn off the car?

and also and recommendations for what brands/makes for a 2007 Subaru legacy bl5?

all (?) turbo timers have a off function . eg all the time it does nothing . then when u want it to go . u push the button on it and set a time and then turn the key off then off u go .

only the really primitive ones in diggers and **** are hard wired .

one thing id reccomend is buying a 2nd had jap one as opposed to a new no name chinky chonk one

if you get real lucky you can find one with a plug in harness for your car .

fkn lol at who ever said the ac cant keep the car cool for ten minutes in sunlight . so when you are driving the ac wont keep you cool for more than ten minutes either ??

on every jap car since for ever the ac has its own (or controll of a)radiator and condensor fan to turn on

I have one you can just have once I actually pull it out of the car

It has an on off switch and 1-3-5mins? Maybe 10 if you're lucky

I used it once to let the car warm up while I had to go back into work and lock up again... They're useless things.

To be fair I just leave my muppets in it with the windows cracked (they're 85kgs combined of big black dog), on the other hand for someone who literally works with criminals I'm far too trusting

Oh yeh? That'd be awesome if it's got a 10 minute function, I think 5 minutes would be a bit short though :/

Do fortyone sell them? Had a look on their website but found nothing.

Redline performance have some nice hks ones that aren't too dear and look real nice too.

Don't dream of buying one new. They're a throwaway item from most cars so just grab a second hand one from somewhere, hell even repco have them for f-all, its just a very simple timer circuit - actually jaycar have a kitset one you can make if you wanted ha

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
