Quick dumb amp Q

Marky

Recommended Posts

Once upon a time I was sitting a diploma in electronic engineering... It appears I have forgotten most of it, haha

I have acquired one of them classic old sony 444w 4 channel amps, I want to use it on my speakers for the hell of it (already have sub and can;t stand for things in my garage to be unused)

My headunit is semi budgo spec and does not have a front pre-out, so I'm using a line converter thing to give the amp an RCA input

Am I best to a) run all four speakers in 2 bridged pairs as just "front" speakers

or b) split that RCA signal to give the amp a front and rear input/output and have 4 normal outputs to the speakers, the head unit still giving "front" to speakers and "rear" to sub as before (so I can still do HP and LP filters through it happily)

...I think I've answered my own question while typing it out

I'd bet my bottom dollar you won't get a headunit with 3 x RCA outputs for less than $200, probably lucky to find one under $300 TBH.

How many speakers / sub are you wanting to run? The best arrangement would be 2 speakers of channels 1/2, and then bridge channels 3/4 for the sub.

So the headunit doesn't even have a single RCA output? That must be one very very very pov-spec headunit. I think even the cheapest ones I've ever seen have at least a single RCA for a rear / subwoofer output. If it does have that one RCA output, use that for the subwoofer

No no no

The head unit is half decent, bout $280ish? It's a Pioneer one with the bluetooths and things

It just only has a rear/sub RCA (because I didn't think to check for that), and I'm already using that for an existing sub & amp I have now. I just happen to have this 4 channel amp I'd also like to give a home

Is okay, I have already answered own question

I always found that searching through the Repco clearance section on the website was good for finding a decent HU at a discount price. Normally about half of retail.

But anyway, def go with separate channels for each.

I had the same amp about 12 years ago powering 2 6x9s and a sub. It got the job done.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
