mechanical rear diff

Hi,

I am building a social track racer and a guy i know has two mechanical rear diffs for sale... I think from memory he said they were 160 and 180 respectively, 1.444 ratio?

(sorry im not to clued up with this stuff yet so if the info is a bit blurry its my dodgy knowledge)

I thought that subaru didnt do a rear mechanical diff? if so these must be aftermarket right?

anyway,

is it a worth while upgrade for the rear? what sort of benifit would you get over the viscious type?

Could be 4.111 or 4.444, R180 will be strongest but may require different hubs

RA's came with a mechanical rear diff. Not sure what version it started from (maybe V3+?). Otherwise yes it could be aftermarket.

What version WRX do you have as that will help guide what type of diff to get. Ie whether R160 or R180 will suit.

In the meantime, ask the guy what they are - ie aftermarket or factory and whether they are 4.11 or 4.44.

I have a 95 or 96 Wrx... single pot rear brakes (if that helps for determining the hub type?) thanks...

yours will be an R160.

some of the ver 3/4 stis that didnt have the big rear brakes and r180 have a mechanical lsd r160 in them i have wrecked a few

How much do the mechanical rear R160's go for on average?

v3+ r/ra is r180
