Carberry rom vs normal

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

So iv been trying to find out how much better the carberry rom is over the normal one when open source tuning, but i cant really find any decent info on how it compares, other than what extra features it has.... I know it can have anti lag and lauch control etc, im not interested in that. Im more interested in afm delete or afm+MAP blending???, will the car preform better with carberry rom, can i have it tuned to have two maps.. one for 98 and one for 95 etc, and what is the general comparison between the two.

Im starting the thread to pool some opinions and info before i talk to Jason about it...

Im currently driving a v7 STI with all supporting mods on factory engine, check garage thread if ya dont know...

Cheers guys

I've asked Jason about this too.. he said Carberry is initially harder to tune due to the ECU having to be set up again, similar to setting up a Link. I think. Something like that, which was a few years ago now...

LostNZer/Toby, he's a Chch dude with a v7 STi Prodrive. It was Mattapo's old car and he's running Carberry ROM that had a tune by Jason, but he's since tweaked it.

Well this post wasn't very helpful..

carberry is a prick to sset up.

takes a LOT of logging / adjusting to get it right. i spent several months tinkering with mine, got it driving exactly the same as the tune i started from, but couldnt get the fueling sorted out, it was running crazy rich. the map switching works, rotational idle was pretty cool, gimmicky almost. antilag is AWESOME for bang / pop but you need to set up a vacuum pump to run your brakes, you loose all vac assist if using rotational / antilag.

the ability to delete / move MAF is handy, but unless you wire in an IAT and hook it to the appropriate pins on the MAF loom, you are better off using the MAF in its current spot to keep the intake air temp.

if you are prepared to spend a LOT of time tinkering, go for it. buuut... benefits vs hassle, i'd run the factory image with launch control.

hmmm yea, i have read its a fiddly system. anti lag doesnt interest me at all, only the dual maps to be honest. Might allmost be easier to get myself a tactrix cable and get a 95 tune made up... then i can just reflash the different tunes onto the current system when i please...

Cheers for the info guys,

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
