Legacy engine bay - what fits

Guest

So after being quoted like almost 2k for all the work i want done (no mods JUST getting it fixed and up to date) i was thinking it might be better buying a reconned engine and putting that it. (im leaning away from the TT setup :( but i LOVE the leggy shape)

So what Fits what doesnt. whats reccommended whats not?

Just filling up our new empty website with info :)

hmmm.....

either way it will cost you about the same..

hard to find a decent recond engine these days...

i managed to get a complete ( with td-04 and clutch ) low kms ver 1 engine for $1350.

then theres labour, parts, time off road etc...

what setup do u have currently?

is it gtb or gt? manual or auto?

and what did u need to get fixed.

Well since i want to move from the Twin setup anyways id spend a lil more on the new engine path

based off wht you said im looking at something like an EJ20G / EJ20K / EJ205 (according to wikipedia that covers wrx/sti engines from 01 - 99 ? )

I take it you need ECU / Gearbox too?

I have a 96 GT Leggy, Manual

Im unsure of what was done when i bought her so i need to be safe.

So full cambelt (inc tentioners, pulleys seals water.....blah blah blah)

Then i have this issue http://www.clubsub.org.nz/forum/index.php?topic=87.0

Gearbox is also crunchie around 3'rd gear (could be syncros)

Then finally a full service :)

whats your budget.... ultimately that defines what setup youll eventually have..

so is your car a wagon or sedan? gt or gtb?

if its TT then yes ull need a loom and ecu to match your engine..

if its manual then you prob wont need a gearbox ,unless your planning on big power the TT gearbox should be fine.

Doing a complete engine swap will be pretty easy, you'll just have to worry bout the loom, and some other small things. Though the list of bits needed always grows greatly while you're working on it..

You got an EJ20H, or EJ20R? Having the R will more or less make life VERY easy for you if you dump a V3/4 STi engine in there. The H will mean you need to do a wee bit of wiring, but i guess that leaves more options open, since you'll have to re-loom the ECU anyway.

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
