yeah my Rs has a k&n pod un oiled.  

 

I too too have found drug paraphernalia in pickapart subis lol, a lot of them have alcohol bottles and cds scattered everywhere also 

 

They sell filters that don't need oil etc etc?

Yeah I guess so, mine never came with oil, even if it did i wouldnt oil it, but thats just me. cars come factory with paper panel filters with no oil, keep it simple and dont start using oil after 20years of it being fine without it, + if youre still running the factory afm the oil F***s with them anyway, i dont run an afm at all now so doesnt bother me either way  

I could be wrong though, there may be filters out there that spontaniously explode without a small amout of oil on them lol

Thread dredge

 

Mine will probably look like this:

Cut/trim off all plastic beneath the lower front indicator (I have a pre facelift v1 gf8) without being a rough **** and chopping the whole lot of it. 

 

Fit some mesh

 

HKS mushroom filter if it can fit, nicely secure, probably slightly higher up by about 150 - 200mm in the case of hydrolocking 

 

Connected with aluminum piping same diameter as MAF, which will stay in stock location. 

 

Think it will work lol
