fooling a sensor?

Just put in a Gizzmo EBC in my v3 Sti

Replaced the factory wastegate solenoid with the electronic solenoid. all setup working fine. But i do get my check engine light on? Im guessing its because the old plug that plugs into the wastegate solenoid is no longer reading anything as I have hooked the new solenoid up to new wires.

Any way to bridge those connections from the old solenoid plug to fool the ecu into thinking it there?

Or have I done something completely wrong lol.

you still have the solenoid plugged in right? as long as you have all the hoses disconnected that and have the boost sensor thing plugged into the new one it should be right.

Yeah, i have an EBC with it's own solenoid. It's all independant, and i just leave the factory solenoid plugged in. Works mint. As long as the ECU has an BCS to talk to, regardless of weather it does anything, it's happy.

yea I had it unplugged, came up with engine light, plugged it back in and still has engine light so im guessing its just an old code from the ecu? Going to reset ecu over night so hopefully should clear it tomorrow.

The little guy in the ECU should turn the light out once the fault dissapears.

What you can if you want to lose the solenoid altogether is measure the resistance of the solenoid and wire a resistor with the same resistance across the plug. Costs you 7c (plus solder and tape) to save 100g and some mess. Really only worth doing if you need the solenoid for something else (ie if the gizmo used it).

make sure its a 5W or 10W resistor tho

dosent the gizzmo come with its own solenoid? or does it use the factory one?

if it uses the own one then dont see why u need to leave the factory one unplugged

i have a hks evc 4 and that has own solenoid and i left the factory plugged in =- works sweet wid no lites etc

yea it does have its own. I have just pluged the original back in and moved its location. No worries now.
