Ok my search is still on for my project car, so I've found another half decent looking one but the owner reckons that he's had the engine rebuilt but has no receipts as his mate done it, now as far as I'm concerned no receipts - no work done!

Would there be anything that might be a give away to say that it actually has been rebuilt? Obviously I will notice the things like piston slap, smoke ect but if there's something that I might be able to check up on in the engine bay could someone let me know? I'm reasonably mechanically minded but I'm no engine re-builder lol

I was in the same boat when i got mine, said it had been re-built but with no receipts. All I know is it run great so I think sometimes you just got to take a risk. By no means though let that sway your decision. If it hasn't been looked after well, re-build or not, its still an abused old car.

when i was looking to buy one there was only one or two, now that i have one there are like 10 of them on trademe lol

i just bought it for a do-er upper and i have another car lined up from my friend who works at giltrap prestige

brand new wof and reg on this friday just gone, version 7 front and rear seats, lowered, 18s, bov and pod filter are the only mods, standard boost, manual, fresh service
