Tight steering in my leggy? Help?

Im not sure if this is the right place to post for this but here goes (sorry if its not!!)

When driving my leggy for a length of time without much turning (eg strait line or bugger all corners) my steering seems to get "tight" and can be tricky to corner if im not expecting it, but after i turn it almost full lock or slow right down it frees itself up to touch (but good) sterering like its supposed to. It doesnt always do it but i've noticed it after coming out of 100kph zones etc,

Dont know if this is eletrical or what im stumpd.

Any ideas guys?

Early legacy?

If so they had electronic control over the power steer.

Sounds like control unit playing up or rack control wires

Control unit is bolted to the side of the column, might have one laying around

What #'s are on yours

Early TT's also had electronic control over the power steer fluid flow through the pinion (rack)

Have you checked ECU for codes? may have VSP2 N/W. Check this and let me know

Long shot, check your L/F inner axle joint boot (inner CV or DOJ)

When they tear thy can damage the wiring to the rack, maybe just maybe at speed this is causing your problem

Had a check for the numbers but i guess i dont know exactly wat im looking for so i didnt have any luck, will check boot etc though.

Im assumings its something eletric because its not a constant problem only sometimes and its comes ok when i turn hard (it only seems to go stiff if i dont turn it for a period of time while driving)

infact it happend this mornig just going up the main st...

Any one else experienced this before? I think sleeperfoz metioned that Quick GT had a similar issue once?? Could be mistaken though..

sometimes old universal joint bearings get rusty and thus causes tight spots u will understand if you jack it up and feel them... if not then try taking tie rods off wheel hub and check if its ball joint related?

Yeah my Gen 1 has the variable assistance steering. Usually it decides mid corner that you no longer require any assistance cos you seem to be doing ok. It reverts momentarily to the older system, Armstrong steering. Not fun at speed!!

I've lived with it for 2 years, and I'm used to what corners it does it on so I (usually) know when its going to happen.

So that little box that's attached to my steering is used for that?

My 97 rsb does this as well, but as its done it for quite awhile i think its on purpose.. if driving at high speed for a while when cruising it stiffens up, and it takes a while to reset when you slow down.. guess cars of tht age just have crappy computer chips in em. If ne1 knows the true cause, post it!

i just replaced my pump and has made a little bit of a difference

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
