Rotate Turbo Housing??

Hey guys, trying do this on mi VF23. Iv undone the small bolts that holds it together and it doesn't seem to want to budge. Have I missed something or does it just need some elbow grease to make it move?

From memory they have a red silicon like bond between the comp cover and the backing plate.

So more force required

But be v carefully tis easy damage the comp blades.

I did this to my vf22 when I was setting up my twisted setup, removed all the bolts and little plates that hold it on then gave it a few taps around the edge with a rubber mallet and off it came, easy. Also if you plan on using the factory wastegate you will have to drill new holes in the plate that mounts the actuator to line up with the new position

no placement pin so you can twist it around to wherever you want, mine had the red sealant, so did most subaru turbos I have pulled to bits from memory

Yea my VF22 had red/orange coloured silicon.

You need to replace the silicon to stop air leaks, make sure its high temp.

yeah managed to pop it off last night, what type of sealant should I be using when re assembling??

any hi-temp silicon sealant will do the trick

which is any silicon which isnt white/clear right? - so black or red

usually red, it says on the packaging if its hi-temp anyhow

i rotated my garrett housing just unbolt moved and bolted it back up should garretts have sealant or does it not matter with them?

can this be done to any vf series turbos eg vf37??
