V7 WRX Diff Ratio?

Hey guys,

Question has probably been asked a million times before, but what is the usual diff ratio for a V7 WRX? my BC5's gearbox is now making some quite intriguing noises and i've been offered a v7 WRX 5speed as a replacement.

MY02 had a 4.44 rear diff, and closer ratios than the MY01 which had a 3.545.

So no go to slot into your 4.11 equipped BC5.

Also of interest the MY02 gearbox had revised and closer ratios due to combat the lack luster performance.

true the uk spec is 3.54, but the jap spec gota 1.1 drop gear and FD is 3.900

JDM V7 WRX (non sti):

5 speed models were 4.444

Aus/ other models spec

5 speed wrx also had a 4.444

(there was a 3.545 rear diff was fitted but not to the australian spec models, so we shouldnt see those here)

but as subar-speed say best bet is to get the gearbox code

Someone pulled the gearbox code tag off, so I'll never know that, but best bet is 4.44, which I can easily get hold of (BC5RA: the GT uses 4.444, so not 'no go')

deos it really matter if u swap the whole drive train -

front diff, rear diff, cnt and g-box - swap the whole thing over -

There was more to my last post but got busted by the boss , so anywho

i know the JDM WRX 5-Door MY99-00 was 4.11 coz i had one, was crap if i can recall 4kgf so yea crap

and i know JDM WRX & WRX STi MY99-00 are 4.44 oh oh wait only V/VI im sure, ahhh screw it cant think at work aye..

Well, yes a diff swap makes it possible, but I was implying that the 4.44 gearbox won't fit your OE 4.11 VLSD.

I have used a BF5 4.44 rear diff before for a V3 STI gearbox retrofit to my RS-R, and would have suggested as such had you asked; Who knows how much you know :

hahah tru bro... na i was just saying ... back in the days i managed to break my GT legacy's box and found a box with front diff so had to find the matching rear diff and all worked well.. i think it did anyway haha
