Hey all! Does anyone know the part number for 1996 (250T) Legacy starter motor?? Also are they generic? Would seem silly for Subaru to make one just for a 2.5 when most of their engines are 2.0. Sorry to be a pain,this is kinda a major mish right now. Cheers

Cant you started motor be repaired? theres not much which goes wrong with Subaru starters that they need to be fully replaced.

Ok,new starter in (well second hand but hey),damn things still just going click and not firing. Any suggestions anyone?? And it's not the battery-just bought new one yesterday.... :'(

Did you charge it? Might have been sitting in the shop for a while.

Im guessing you have put the starter motor in and have hooked up the signal wire etc. If its not ticking over make sure you have a decent power supply to it, you havent put any rubber washers or something stupid like that on the power supply etc. If its still just ticking and not turning over i would suggest jumping off another car as its not getting enough power to it.

If its turning over but not firing and not going you have another issue.

Cheers guys,stupid sodding battery lol!! Has one of those little green indicator lights on battery to show charge...it was showing green but nowhere near enough charge to turn her over. Thanks heaps to everyone who's posted,appreciate it heaps aye ;D
