Legacy Glass Q (need advice)

Have just recieved a legacy wagon tsr 97 for parts please note this is also forsale see forsale section or PM me for more info

what i'm wanting to know is...

Is the glass for the rear tempered as it has tinted 25% on the rear tailgate and boot side windows as well as back doors i'm going to swap this over with my legacy which hasn't been tinted at'll

HOW EASY IS IT TO REMOVE i'm going to just swap over tailgates so thats easy enuff but wondering how i go about changing over rear windows and door glass

glass swap 'may' be easier - I have done total hatch swap... is a |3itch

but to hard to turn down save me some pennys

the rear windows are glue in, so you going to have to find some piano wire and cut them out, Then glue them into new car.

If you never done this before, there will be a high risk that you may break the glass while trying to take it out as any wrong pressure will break glass.

also Get proper windscreen sealer too.

Its going to be mission......good luck!!

I asked a windscreen place and they said 50/50 chance of getting it out and in with out breaking it.

curious as to why? if your worried about the tint not being legal, if the tint is not film and is actually tinted glass (stock Subaru oem) then it's legal to have you wont have issue during WOF only if it's tint film then it's illegal to have 25% tint

If you want to pull out the glass anyway, buy a clay wire cutter and use a heat gun to soften the black window seal. and use wooden wedges, have a mate to help you, not that hard to do.

I use the proper cutting wire

I have removed the glass from a wreck and the glass was bent and it never broke,

which reminds me I have the rear side glass from a early impreza hatch if anybody wants some

The great thing with the tempered glass is that it is as strong as buggery

U would be surprised what it takes,just dont hit it with a pointy object
