v3-v4 sti

apart from the white gauge cluster is there much difference between the 2? found a nice ver3 but have wanted the ver4 up only because of the nice white gauges really, but if they are both the same id rather save some $ and get the ver3, seems hard 2 find a decent v5 near my budget but i havent given up on them either

Apart from what you've stated, There a some engine internal differences and as well a different Turbocharger.

Same Transmission, other than that I'm sure some Impreza anorak will add it.

As far as im aware there is only the cosmetic difference.

The 4 does have a different turbo and ecu although the net effect is all the same

Heads are different, cam profiles as well as Sodium filled valves and shim under bucket.

3 will vf23 and 4 will have vf24.

V3 Sti is meant to have the most "Aggresive" heads of the earlier stis supposidly.

V4 Has the v5/6 interior as you say the white gauges.

Exterior is the same between 3/4 also...

yea the ver3 i seen has the nice 3peice front lip, alot nicer with them

or get a sparco lip like the one in my avaitor reckon they make for a tough look

i think heads are the same ive taken these out so many time you cant even tell the different.

will get photo of both ver 3 and 4 sti cams and heads. i got both of them sitting on my bench at the moment

as for interior ver 3 dont have airbags on the steering wheel and the ver 4 has different fron seats where you can adjust the heights if you are talk u can make the seat lower, and i find that most ver4-6 seats are wider, these are good for fat over weight people like us subbie owners

the differences are minor - they both seem to make about the same power etc. The ver 4 will be on boost a touch quicker and thus have abit more torque as well.

the dash on the v3 is abit of a dog's breakfast imo

yea thats the main reason i am wanting the ver4 up, the gauges look alot better

iv had both, v4 atm but i almost would say the v3 was nicer to drive.. no so keen on the huge steering wheel that the v4+ has feels a bit cumbersome (sp) just my 2c

but still if you have the choice v4 ftw

yeah it kinda grows on you with the steering wheel. now it feels really weird to jump in a car ver1-3. its just feels like u got more room with the 3. but hey airbag is for safty ( if i ever go off?) the door trim is also nicer on a v4. i step down from ver 5 to ver4 because parts is just hard to get for ver5 then especially the heads.

im not 2 worrid about how big the steering wheel is, its better 2 be safe
