hmm so going by this thread I could in theory straight swap my ugly as ***K Forester Gauge cluster for a V4+ one?

IIRC 4 are different to 5 and 6 - I had to get the 4 as the plugs are really different (and mine is also a 4, just not turbo )

If your plugs are the same as Dave's, then you need 5/6. If they're not, you need 4.

Mat's got a 97, so it's a 4.

And just took both speedo's out to get a close look. it appears the screw holes are the same distance accross, so physically the face of the impreza speedo would screw on the electric legacy assembly, but the trip reset is in a different location, and the markings are JUST out. the the legacy sweep from 0 to 180 is about 10-15º more than the impreza, so the readings with the impreza face would be out. Also, the legacy speedo physically can't fit into the impreza cluster without major hacking and slashing. (the electronic gear is actually bigger than the mechanical stuff!)

In other words, meh, pointless to convert to electric, too much effort, way way way too much effort for no reward other than not having to deal with a cable, will just put up with a speedo cable.

Mmmmmm, would have looooved one, just for the bling. Meh, i got my 9K tacho now, with correct redline, and carbon fiber, and sti logo. She's all bling now Just need the V4's optional carbon fiber hand brake to top it off It's not boy racer if it came factory!
