version 8 engine for my version 1

hello i have a verson 1 wrx and was looking at putting the version 8 2.5litre wrx sti engine into it the engine has a clutch but i am wondering if its a straight bolt in job? engine mounts etc, also have an sti gearbox already in the car will it just bolt onto that or is it just not that easy?

Thus the requester should take a look in the Garage at nt_a_Foz's car... its a version 4 with v8 engine and running gear.

yeah, the early motors are a 4 bolt bell housing and the v8 are 7 or 8 blot, the 4 line up., if your using your v1 box you will have to use your v1 flywheel and starter etc. it will be mint once finished

yeah itl straight bolt up.

Will need custom wiring ay...If its got the AVCS heads then youl need to get a link ecu and get it wired in OR wire in the factory v8 ecu which is even morfe of a mission.

Ver 8 2.5 wrx sti engine?? ??

i think you are a bit confused as to what engine you have. (2.5 STI engines didnt arrive in the impreza until the ver10)

it could be a Forester ej257 which arrived earlier?

are you sure its a sti engine? and is the clutch for a 5 or 6 speed?

either way it should bolt up to your gearbox but you need to check what flywheel is fitted to it- as the starter motor will differ.

USA got the 2.5 early. Im pretty sure NZ had the 2.5 as an option also.

2.5sti only came in the so called v10 models non jdm spec

forester sti 04+ models have the 2.5
