Turbo diagnostics help

Intercoolers off, revved it, no air coming from either turbo... there was oil in the intercooler that dripped out when I removed it, bad? Guess this means the primary's screwed? Is there anything else I could check/clean/replace while the TMIC is off?

Hey fellas, just trying to remove primary turbo, gotten a little stuck, remove hoses shown in attached photo. and red indicates removed bolts. The thing still won't budge. Still am to remove inlet hose, is there a trick to removing it? It's almost as if I'll have to remove the inlet manifold to get it out if I don't want to damage it...

Its only on by half an inch you should be able to undo the clip or hose clamp and shimmy it out of the way or undo from both ends and lift it out. The turbo may be pressed on with the heat or youve missed a nut up the back of it.

I think theres 5 nuts on the turbo too from memory

You guys are going to like this. I've gotten the primary turbo off... anyway the following pictures should tell the story...

Yep, when I took it off there was a ****ing nut in the intake! a nut! No wonder the turbo is rooted, the fans don't spin nor do they wobble. So yeah its rooted. Had to grind off a bolt to get the down pipe off, but no biggy. Right, I either need another primary, or replace them both with something else. Going to go down to my mechanic tomorrow, cheers to everyone who helped, especially boostin and Ichi Ban (PM).

Oh damn!! Check the rest of your intake thoroughly to make sure there's nothing in there to munch the new turbo too!

And is your intercooler filled with bits of compressor wheel? Might pay to have it cleaned or fit a new one.

you dont need to remove the up pipe either you have get a powerbuilt 14mm spanner to fit the under side from under the starter use the closed end of the bolt at the front closest to the outside (left) of car and use the open end down on an angle to lock it and use a 14mm with 6"extension with rachet or breaker bar i have done this 4 or 5 time successfully

downpipe needs to be take off first the back is bolt in simple

also you only need to undo the 3 bolts holding the turbo incase some people didnt know

also may of been a bit hard to pull of as the oil return pipe maybe hard or stuck

I've flushed it with petrol, didn't see anything come out, but I did it in the dark... so unsure :P

goto the radiator shop and get them to chemical flush it.

Agreed,

You don't want to send any of that stuff through your engine if there is any in there, better to be safe than sorry i reckon

Well I had to grind off a few bolts on the exhaust side of things. But otherwise, not to many dramas. Also ended up having to replace the secondary BoV, as that was loosing vac climbing hills. Going to end up knowing a fair bit about the turbo side of things when I'm finished with this car :P

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
