6MT's

So its been covered in round about ways before.. for those interested in doing the 5MT to 6MT swap...

Is there a massive difference (Variance)in the 6 speeds? i know some come with dccd and some dont, but in terms of front diffs and gearing? are they much the same?

Wondering about rear diffs as well - coz most packages come with them now, is there variance in those

What are the "ones to get"? And how do the rear/front diffs compare to those in the 5MTs?

This is coming from a v3 with an open front and some crap factory lsd in the rear.

6 speeds out of the impreza's have basically all the same gear ratios

v7-v9 are all 3.9 front and 3.9 rear diffs

v10 is 3.9 front and 3.545 rear diff ( the centre diff has drop down output gears, changing the ratio)

the earlier 6 speeds (v7 and V8) superceed their synchros to the later v9/v10 units. so if your synchros in your v7 or v8 need replacing you need to replace them with the gears (according to Fuji Heavy Industries).

also the front inner cv joints are different. V7/V8 are setup like the gc8's and most other subarus in which there is a male shaft permanently fitted inside the the front diff housing and the inner cv joint slides over it, while the V9/v10 has this shaft (also known as a spindle shaft) built into the inner cv joint. it is however easy enough to convert to v7/v8 if you were wanting to use one in a gc8 for example

the centre diffs either come in dccd form or viscous form.

same for the front diffs

also the spec c (and some optioned STI's) had external gearbox oil coolers. this is just a 2 piece pipe which bolts to the side of the box (which leads off to a oil cooler sitting in the radiator) instead of the 1 piece pipe which plumbs back into the casing

you need to run the numbers of the gearbox if you find one.

i have the full list of gearbox codes with specs and model applications which i can run through if you find a box

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
