Impreza trans problem

Hi,

The auto transmission in my impreza has begun to slip I think but not 100% sure. When the car is cold, and I shift from "P" to "D" and accelerate a little bit, the car just revs up and doesn't move. It takes 2-3 secs before it goes into gear. But when the car is warmed up, it engaes fine.

Thoughts anyone? The trans oil looks fresh too if that makes a diff.

and yes possibly new oil and filter will help, however you say the fluid looks fresh, what color is it?

what can i say? i had the afternoon off work and i was bored

all good though, um well without seeing the car myself (i do trans servicing as part of my job) if the fluid is a nice bright red/pink color thats good but then it means you have a mechanical problem, as above could be clutch pack or something a little more serious. take it to a transmission specialist and they will be able to tell you exactly whats wrong.

Worn forward clutch seals is common (esp with sports shift trans)

Fairly easy to sort out - dont be fooled and let someone fully over haul your tranny, as it doesnt need it !

Parts cost is for the required seals and gaskets is around $200 plus oils and labour

Fairly easy to sort out - dont be fooled and let someone fully over haul your tranny, as it doesnt need it !
