I hear this mentioned it a bit,

can anyone tell me about them, how to get details and go along?

Im finding it real hard to find a particular part so might see if i can buy a trashed one and scrap the rest... might be a cheaper option.

nah the insurance companies have auctions for the cars they have written off.

i have seen written off cars at a salvage yard down the road from my work, they store for the insurance company and you just put your tender in, if your the highest tender then you get the car. you can walk round the whole yard and look at everything they have. used to go in there all the time for a look, sometimes they have some nice ones.

some down here(Dunners) use Turners too but there a couple that put them in the tenders section in the ODT on Saturdays, Ami seems to be the most common one in the paper

i assume they still operate the same, theyre still down the road, its called Williams Salvage if that helps.

just remember that some of the mashed up cars may have had people 'seriously injured' in them, last time i was there a few years ago i saw the car one of my school friends died as a passenger in a crash, i wasnt expecting it to be there, i've never been back since for some reason.

Afaik ami have a shed down by the old spect building here in dunedin where they put car's up for tender. Well they used to. Dunno if they still do.

Clients have the option of buying the writeoff back from the insurance company, recovered goods are mainly done via trademe/turners.
