doubt its an installation problem , if you can get all forward gears, can you get reverse?? reverse uses the same selector rod as 5th, perhaps the roll pin through 5th selector fork is broken and the rod is sliding through it when you select. does the gear lever go into and stay in the 5th positon when you have nutral?

Using the right linkage? Pop the shifter boot off and make sure the selector isnt hitting the edge of the hole in the floor or something silly like that

oh ok thanks for that, i was thinking since it was my diff that went in my old gearbox, i could put the front part of the new gearbox onto back part of the old gearbox.

Would this be easy enough?

Cheers

  • 2 weeks later...

these are probly of your 5th gear syncro slider, there should be 3 in total , take the transer box of the back of the gearbox with it in the car and have a look , 5th gear is in the transfer box. although ya might want to check the rest of the box for damage which means its gotta come out, these are known for coming of of 5th gear.

Yeah my dads mate used to work for STI in the rally etc he said it was a common problem, i took apart the box and found a few teeth in there aswell, i have found a donor legacy, has rear end damage and has been writtern off, my legacy is a 95 and the donor is 96, the gearboxes still fit up to my engine, i will be using the rear diff from the donor aswell as mine is on its way out.

So would 96 be same as 95 gearbox etc?

cheers

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
