Rear axle into diff -> wont go... argh

i'm puzzled, why not just use the correct ones? the shafts from the pic at bottom of page 1 look just the same as my RA half shafts

or are they not compatible with your hubs?

yer 2 reasons

one the v7/8 axles are in mint condition

two - its sometimes rather hard to extract the axles.

Can you post up some pics of what axles you're actually using and some shots looking down inside the diff??

just a note, i reinserted my halfshafts into the rear diff today - they click in easily with a slight tap

lol it def is, nick has v2 axles in v2 diff.. I'm trying y

to put v7/8 wrx axles into v2 diff..

Just had the mech two way LSD refurbished before it went in so it's 100% v2 sti ra diff

Then you'll need to get the V2 RA inner CV's and see if they fit the GD half shafts.

thats what we doing man ;D i have my v3 axles and the inner cv's or (DOJ's) are the same as v2 ones

had the same issue but not as bad with my rear cusco diff. just needed a couple of new circlip grooves machined into the axle stubs.

interesting... perhaps you could swing by and look at mine - thats exactly what will fix my problem - the circlip cant compress into the axle stub enough to get the axle right in

If the groove is the right distance into the diff, I still can't see why you haven't just had those grooves machined deeper. Would take $20 maximum or some beers at any machine shop. Those guys, like most, generally love beer.

#1) life has been hectic and decidedly shit with family dying and breaking up with partner

#2) axle in hub and not had time to remove it from the hub, then refer to #1)

Im getting there man - by all accounts we've got it figured out - its jsut the time to do one option

Sorry to hear about that dude. Always hard to concentrate on normal life with all that type of stuff going on. Without knowing that it seemed like you've still been trying stuff to no avail.

yer man - appreciated, we have two options yet to be tried.

#1) machine the groove on current axles

#2) replace the DOJ's from old axles onto new axles
