What ECU to go for?

So after hmmming and harrrrring about a ECU for my B4, I have returned to the forum for help

TBH i dont know a fricking thing about ECUs. All i know is that their not cheap and everyone seems to go for a Link G4 =)

So my combo goes as followed

I have a 99 B4 Legacy

Ej207 long block

TD06 Turbo

Equal length headers with a 3inch turbo back

550cc injectors

Probably have to do fuel pump but i havent gotten that far yet into digging

What ECU should i be looking at? I have a tuner ready for when everything is bolted on and running, I will never be plugging my laptop into the ECU and making changes myself.

So theirs like G4 storms, extreme, lightning, atom (some even plug and play but mines going to need repined no mater what)

And then theirs ECUs that plug into ECUs and wtfs

Im assuming that one has more features than the others like a basic/medium/advanced options list.

Came across this on Tardme. Seems pretty cheap comparing it to other Extreme links http://www.trademe.co.nz/motors/car-parts-accessories/other-accessories/auction-980183914.htm

So should i be going for a link or something cheap and nasty

link g3 or g4 are good from the tuners point of view, easy to use/upgrade/modify for extras. Can get plug in versions quite cheap 600-1200+ . You could get a plug in v5/6 model and it should fit your ecu plug setup, just have your tuner re-pin some wires before it's put in and you're done.

stay away from possum link or anything or that era - They have there place but it's for near stock cars to get a bit more oomph from a bolt in product IMO. Waste of time and money wiring one into a car like yours

Power fc could be a good option if you're going to re-pin the loom to suit they are quite capable but getting old and not as good as link

p.s good time to grab a wideband o2 sensor

Cheers Sly. I will be going be going with the plug in v5/6. If only they were a lot cheaper =)

http://www.speedtechnz.com/shop/brands/link/G4+plug+in+Engine+Management/Subaru/WRX+Link+G4+-+Subaru+Impreza+V5+V6+WRX+STi.html will get map sensor so i can delete the MAF

Will i need the intake air sensor?

Can you please explain the wideband o2 sensor and what i will need it for?

V7 sti throttle body will have a 2.5bar map on it.

Yep you need iat.

The dude i bought my V7 mani off completely stripped it down. Which f***ed me off cause i wasnt their when he dropped it off. So i was thinking of just chucking all the TT gear on the sti manifold while doing the split fuel rails and coil pack.

So i would need the Link 2.5 map now ae?

So you have no throttle body, rails or loom? Ive got a 2.5 bar v7 sti one here which will be spare soon.

Need mac valve boost solenoid too.

Nah I have nothing. I might just sell the bare intake manifold and buy a complete V7 one with fuel rails and all. So if I do that then I won't need the map because they already have one on the TB?

      Afternoon team,
im new to the group first time posting. Im hoping some body can help me get my launch control all dialled in on my link g4x. Ive had the computer and car all tuned from chris at prestige awesome knowlegable guy super happy with the results but now im wanting to get my launch/anti lag all dialled in. Ive been reading multiple different forums etc all with different conflicking information which has made me nervious with what do i listen to this or that if you get what i mean. Now ive started to make myself familiar with my PClink software etc the past few weeks and im eager to learn how to do minor setups or tweaks etc so im not relieing on my tuner so much and obviously saving myself abit hurt in the back pocket.
Now back to the question at hand.... Im wondering if theres and one who could please share there knowledge and wisdom with setting all my values, timing, fuel etc when i have launch control armed and engaged, or even a launch tune file they can possibly send me to load onto my tune. Ive figured out the setup of my digital inputs turning launch control on etc and its obvisously on its pre set factory settings. It engages but doesnt sound the greatest or as angry as it should i feel. Hence reaching out to you good buggers.

Cheers in advance for any info and help yous maybe able to give me.

      Cheers Shaun
